Dru Steubing
Vice President of Project Development, Apex Clean Energy

Dru is responsible for project development, primarily in the Texas coast area. Prior to joining Apex Clean Energy, Dru gained over 15 years of wind experience as a consulting partner with Texas Wind Group, LP, developing wind projects in South Texas and managing construction of wind farms across the United States.

Previously, Dru was part of the start-up Signal Energy, where he took projects from the development stage through engineering, procurement, and construction. Dru also spent time with Zachry as a project engineer, where he oversaw the balance of plant for West Texas wind farms under Enron Wind. He went on to form his own civil construction company, specializing in wind turbine foundations and heavy civil construction. Dru graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science in construction science and a minor in business administration.


Dave Savage
Director of Project Development, Apex Clean Energy

Mr. Savage is currently Director of Development for Apex Clean Energy in SPP and ERCOT where he manages a portfolio of wind and solar projects and a team of developers and land acquisition specialists.  He has been with Apex for a total of 5 years.

Prior to his time with Apex, he was with QCells for 2 years as National Director of Solar Development in the U.S. Prior to that, Mr. Savage was an Infigen Energy Senior Business Development Manager for solar projects throughout the U.S for 2.5 years. Prior to joining Infigen, he was a Senior Renewable Energy Developer with RES Americas for 4 years beginning in 2007. While with RES, he developed 3300 megawatts of wind energy projects throughout the country’s midsection and he also developed 54 MW of solar PV projects in the southwest.  Prior to RES Americas, Mr. Savage was the Program Manager for WindLogics, Inc. in St. Paul, Minnesota for 3 years, where he managed large wind integration studies for Independent System Operators and utilities throughout the U.S. He also managed the corporate integration when WindLogics was acquired by FPLE Energy (Nextera).

Mr. Savage was a commissioned officer in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for 20 years prior to his career in the wind energy industry.  During his 20 years with NOAA, Mr. Savage gained extensive experience in meteorology and marine biology, both as a manager and scientist. He received a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Aquatic Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. He has had specialized management and Six Sigma training from NOAA and FPL Energy, respectively.


Houston Eagleston
Development Manager, Apex Clean Energy

Houston is responsible for the development of wind, solar and battery storage projects throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Prior to joining Apex in 2022, Houston spent 14 years in the Oil & Gas industry managing land acquisition and development efforts in Oklahoma, Texas, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia for leading US shale operators.

Houston started his career in the energy industry at Chesapeake Energy in 2005 where he led title & due diligence efforts supporting the acquisition of leasehold in the Barnett Shale before being charged with managing the development efforts of 20+ wells per year in the Marcellus Shale. He left Chesapeake in 2011 to join Antero Resources where he helped grow their asset base into a leading developer in the Marcellus Shale ahead of their IPO in 2013. Houston graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Finance and from Cass Business School with an MBA.


Anna Richey
Public Engagement Manager, Apex Clean Energy

Anna Richey is the Public Engagement Manager for Jackfork Wind. Anna’s career has included managing local, state, and federal campaigns, and working in and around government for the better part of two decades. Before joining Apex in 2021, she worked in the nonprofit sector, leading energy policy development in rural Minnesota. This experience solidified a passion for clean energy and how it can contribute to the stability and revitalization of rural areas, particularly. Now, she oversees Apex’s community outreach efforts in Texas and Oklahoma. When she’s not working, she enjoys fishing Minnesota’s abundant lakes and rivers.


Jeff Spangler
Land Acquisition Specialist, Apex Clean Energy

Born and raised in rural Southeast Kansas, Jeff has lived and served in the area since attending and graduating with both his degrees from Pittsburg State University. After nearly twenty years in education and five years in operational management, he now serves in land acquisition and management with Apex Clean Energy on the Hickory Creek Wind project. With a strong belief in bringing high quality and safe economic development to this region, Jeff is excited to work with Apex and help bring long term benefits to local communities.
